Potluck

A coin that backs a real project.

Paste a live Kickstarter link and launch its coin on pons. 1% of every trade, plus the coin's creator fees, goes into an on-chain Pot that is pledged to the project. If it ships, the rewards are raffled among holders.

How to read a coin

Top bar: the project's own funding on Kickstarter. Bottom bar: the slice of it pledged by the coin's Pot. The hairline marks where our pledge starts.

Paste a Kickstarter link

Any live campaign with 48 hours left. We check it, suggest a name and a symbol, and launch the coin on pons for you. Log in, pay the launch fee in ETH, done.

2

Every trade feeds the Pot

The coin's creator fees plus 1% of each trade go to an on-chain Pot that belongs to that coin. Nobody can point it elsewhere. Every claim and withdrawal is listed with its transaction.

3

The Pot becomes a pledge

We pledge the Pot to the project on Kickstarter and raise it as it grows — best reward tier that fits, then add-ons. The two bars show the project and the coin's share of it.

The board is empty. The first coin is yours to launch.

57 live Kickstarter projects below don't have a coin yet. Pick one, or paste any other live campaign.

If the project is funded

Holders can win what the pledge bought.

  • — Holders are snapshotted at the block of the campaign deadline. One token, one ticket.
  • — The draw is seeded by drand, a public randomness beacon. The inputs and a script to re-run it are published.
  • — One winner per reward item. Winners prove their wallet with a signature; their address is stored encrypted.

If the project fails

The pledge is never charged. Holders pick what's next.

  • — Kickstarter only charges pledges for funded projects, so the Pot stays whole.
  • — Seven-day vote, signed with the wallet, free. One token, one vote, quorum 10% of supply.
  • — No quorum: the whole Pot goes back to holders pro-rata through a Merkle distributor.

Straight answers

Who controls a coin's fees?

No wallet does. They go to the coin's Pot contract, set as fee recipient when the coin is created. The Pot can claim what pons owes it, fund the pledge through a public withdrawal, or fund the fallback airdrop — nothing else.

What does Potluck take?

A launch fee paid by whoever launches a coin, and 10% of each fee claim, taken on-chain inside the claim and shown in the ledger. The other 90% stays in the Pot.

Is the project's creator involved?

Not unless they say so. Anyone can launch a coin for a campaign; the creator simply receives an ordinary Kickstarter pledge.

Is a coin a share of the project?

No. It is not a share, a pre-order or a promise of delivery. Coins are volatile and can go to zero.
